Camp Sister Spirit Folk School
Wow~ What a year 2008 has been! We are happy and relieved it is finally over and we can begin with a new board of directors, new supporters, and a new outlook about where we are going! We do indeed know who our "core" group is now and we honor them in more ways than we could ever put into words.
CSSFS has received two major awards this year. The Executive Director(who also got published in 2008 with the essay she wrote about Poverty in Mississippi) and the Folk School was recognized by the 10th anniversary committee of the Vagina Monologues for "Empowerment Philanthropy" in the Gulf South. Biloxi Pagan Pride Day also recognized CSSFS with the Silver Chalice Award! Our co-founder who we lost in February of 2008 would be so very proud of us. Without her support and love for so many years we would not be here doing what we do and doing it well! We do know whose shoulder's we stand upon and we will always honor that in more ways than one!
Our events for Spring of 2009 are all shored up and we are very excited! We have decided to keep the Camp closed to visitors until February of 2009 as we have much work to do to get ready for this upcoming wonder-filled year. Please check out our Events link and make plans to join us! We are excited to announce our new Artisan's Venture which will allow every aspect of Art to thrive on this sacred land..Music...Painting..Pottery..Woodworking..MetalWork...you name it...we will have the facility to do it!
Thanks to everyone who rode out the tumultuous year of 2008 with us and held us in love and light! We will forever be thankful and you all know who you are!
